The important thing to remember is that each indivisual member of the human race represents one fragment of an infinitely complex system of interdependence. It's a mistake to think that one is an indispensable part of that system, but it's equally wrong to lament being nothing more than a mere fragment. 大切なのは、わたしたちが、その複雑に絡み合った相互依存のシステムの一つの断片だということだ。自分は全体に不可欠の断片なのだと思い上がるのは間違っているし、一つの断片に過ぎないと悲観することもない。
